Our Story
the story of us
Hunter and Emma’s story began in the sixth grade in Arlington, Massachusetts - where they met during their first year of middle school when they were 12 years old. By eighth grade they were officially “dating” - which at the time mostly meant nervously holding hands during movies, sharing ice cream in near silence, and adding each other’s initials to their AIM profiles. Their very first date was at Brigham’s Ice Cream (a beloved neighborhood spot) where they shared a Raspberry Lime Rickey. Hunter was grounded but couldn’t resist the chance to impress Emma - so he snuck out anyway. Sorry Colleen, but I think it paid off!
September 6th, 2009 will always hold a special place in their story - the day two kids officially became boyfriend and girlfriend! They spent their high school years growing up together, side by side. After graduation, college took them to opposite coasts - Emma to California and Hunter to Rhode Island.
Everything changed five years ago during the height of the pandemic. Emma decided to return home to spend time with her parents, and Hunter was living in their hometown at the time. One thing led to another and that old spark reignited. From that moment on they’ve been inseparable.
Hunter moved to California shortly after and the two settled in Los Angeles - along with their beloved Chiweenie, Bella, who proudly holds the title of center of their universe. Last September 2024, the day before Emma’s 30th birthday, Hunter proposed in Paris during a downpour with a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. It was a long-awaited moment - one that felt perfectly timed after so many years of history.
Now after sixteen years of love, growth, and adventure - they’re getting married! Emma and Hunter are truly best friends - laughing, traveling, and building a beautiful life together every day. They cannot wait to finally become husband and wife and celebrate with their favorite people!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can we fly into?
We recommend flying into Santa Barbara Airport (SBA), which is the closest airport to our venue! From there, it’s about a 30–45 minute drive to Santa Ynez, and you can easily take an Uber or Lyft.
If SBA isn’t convenient, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a good alternative with more flight options. However, it's approximately a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from the area, depending on traffic.
Rental cars are available at both airports if you prefer having your own transportation!
Can we take a train?
Absolutely! If you’re planning to take a train from the East Coast, we recommend booking Amtrak’s cross-country service, which would take you to Los Angeles or Santa Barbara over the course of 3–4 days. It’s a beautiful ride if you’re not in a rush and want to turn the trip into part of the experience!
Where should we stay?
We have a hotel room block at The Landsby in Solvang from Sunday 5/17 - Wednesday 5/20! Please see more details on the "Hotel" tab!
Where will each event be?
Our welcome party will be held at Bodega in Los Alamos. Our wedding will be held at the beautiful Sunstone Villa in Santa Ynez!
How can we get to the venues?
Please check back for more details as the day gets closer!
Are children allowed?
As much as we love children, we please ask for this to be a no children wedding, unless specified on your invitation! We’re making a special exception for a few children in our immediate family.
However, children are more than welcome to attend our welcome party the night before!
Are the events indoors or outdoors?
Both our welcome party and wedding day events will take place outdoors! Late May in Santa Ynez is typically warm and sunny during the day, but evenings can get cool - sometimes dipping into the 50s. We recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap for the evenings!
Can we take photos?
Yes, absolutely - before and after the ceremony! We’re having an unplugged ceremony, which means we kindly ask that all phones and cameras be put away for the duration of the ceremony. We’ve hired amazing photographers and vendors to capture every moment - and we’re so excited to share those photos and videos with you afterward!
Is there a dress code?
Yes! Our welcome party is dressy casual/garden party, and our wedding dress is black tie optional/neutral colors only. Please click below for more information.
How can I RSVP?
Once we send out our official invitations, you’ll be able to RSVP directly through this website! Be sure to check back closer to that time - we’ll have a section available where you can easily submit your response online.
